OPEN HOUSE MELBOURNE WEEKEND 2016

Not long to wait until 2016 Open House Melbourne Weekend- and we’re counting the sleeps.

As mentioned last month, Modscape recently became an Official Practice Partner for the 2016 Open House Melbourne Weekend. Open House Melbourne’s goal is to ensure Melbourne remains a liveable and vibrant place by better connecting people with their city and educating our city’s future custodians on the importance of good design. And we’re thrilled to help them do it.

On the 30-31 July 2016, Melbourne will throw open the doors to the city’s most treasured and architecturally inspiring buildings for locals and visitors to explore. More than 140 outstanding houses, buildings, infrastructure and landscapes will be featured in this year’s program, so there will be plenty of opportunity to get up close and personal with spaces not normally open to the public.

The program includes relatively undiscovered spaces like the Salvation Army Heritage Centre – home to Limelight Studios. There are also traditional behind-the-scenes favourites like the State Library and Parliament House.

Residential projects are again a popular featuring in the program, including the much-acclaimed Flinders Lane apartment.

Architectural practices like John Wardle Architects, Woods Bagot Melbourne and ClarkeHopkinsClarke will also be opening up their studios for the day, so it’s an excellent opportunity to take a look behind-the-scenes into where design magic happens.

The complete building list for the weekend event can be found on the Open House Melbourne website.

The Modscape design team has been attending the Open House event each year for nearly a decade and this year’s weekend of discovery will be no different. We hope to see you there.
