Our Favourite Moments Of 2017

  • December 19th, 2017

With 2017 almost behind us it’s a great time to reflect on the year that’s been – and boy has it been a busy one. There have been so many highlights that it’s hard to narrow them down to a handful, but here are our top five moment from 2017.

We love any excuse to celebrate design and architecture. And the Melbourne Design Week and Open House Melbourne weekend are no exceptions.

Back in March, creatives across Melbourne joined together to deliver the inaugral Open State – offering talks, tours, workshops and industry events with the aim of strengthening and promoting Melbourne as one of the design capitals of the world. And Modscape was thrilled to be a part of it.

Open State revealed and celebrated a network of leading Victorian design innovators including commissioners of design, designers, design studios, design researchers, design educators and manufacturers.

Celebrating its 10th year, the Open House Melbourne weekend was bigger than ever before. The weekend in July saw over 200 buildings open their doors and welcome over 82,000 locals and visitors.

The Modscape team have been attending the weekend event for many years but this year it was time to repay the favour and play host – and we loved every minute of it.

Working alongside cinematographer Nathan Kaso to create a unique video of our module construction process

We can’t count the number of times we’ve watched this awesome little video by local cinematographer Nathan Kaso. And how can you resist – the unique combination of filming techniques and styles reimagines the modular construction process in such an engaging and captivating way.

Nathan filmed from scissor lifts, drones and the Modscape factory rooftop to create the miniature effect. The entire film is made up of over 20,000 individual still images!

We had a brilliant time working with Nathan to create this dynamic video and we hope you enjoyed watching it just as much.

After the success of previous years, the Modscape prefab hub once again opened our doors and invited visitors to get a behind-the-scenes look at how our modular homes and commercial projects are created.

It was wonderful to see so many enthusiastic people excited about building modular.  Taco Truck and Beatbox Kitchen put on a fabulous feed to match and we can’t wait to have you over for lunch again next year.

Printing 3D models for clients

No matter your age, new toys are always fun – and a 3D printer was the toy of choice for the Modscape design team this year.

The 3D models stimulate conversation and debate with our clients which in turn enriches the design and development process. We’ve found it to be a wonderful tool to communicate and develop prefab design ideas.

Receiving a bunch of love about our projects on Instagram, in magazines and on architectural websites

It’s been a fabulous year but we couldn’t have done it without the continual support and love from our fans. Reading about our work in magazines and on architectural websites has been both exciting and humbling. We’re looking forward to sharing with you more completed modular projects and behind-the-scenes Modscape moments in 2018. Bring it on!
