MINIATURE MODULAR HOMES

We’ve found 3D printed models to be a powerful tool to communicate and develop design ideas with our clients.

The models stimulate conversation and debate, which facilitates the design development process. Crucial lessons can be learnt through the testing of ideas in a miniature format.

On occasions when floorplans and technical drawings can be difficult to understand, a 3D model makes the design more tangible. In turn, the increased level of client understanding allows for design changes to be incorporated at the early stages, saving time and money.

Below are some 3D printed models of upcoming modular homes that are currently in progress.

We’ve begun construction on this two bedroom + study home which will be delivered to a suburban site in the Macedon Ranges region. Perfect for retirement living, this efficient design incorporates a skillion roof that will appear to float thanks to highlight windows that wrap around the home. The roof also extends out to create a carport space integrated into the design.

In need of extra space for their growing family the clients decided to employ a modular solution and extend their home rather than move. Located in Melbourne’s North-East this two-storey extension will certainly have the “wow factor”. On the ground floor a generous open plan kitchen, living and dining will effortlessly spill out to the backyard thanks to corner less sliding doors that blur the line between outside and in. The first-floor master suite cantilevers out to the garden while the curved timber screen provides privacy and softens the form. A new entrance foyer is created with a double-height space that clearly delineates the two architectural styles.

Situated on a truly picturesque site in the central highlands of Victoria, this proposed design perches on the edge of a cliff, showcasing the picturesque pastoral and forest views. The sustainable house provides ample space and will function fully off-grid. Site-built stone walls will add thermal mass and help divide the sleeping wings from the living.

A fabulous family home arranged over three levels will replace a badly orientated home on a sloping block in Melbourne’s north-west. Working with the slope of the land, the new design utilises the existing blockwork and will incorporate a basement gym alongside a three-car garage. A large open-plan living space effortlessly flows out onto the sunny backyard and pool. All three bedrooms will have a stunning view of the city skyline.
