Behind the Scenes at Modscape’s Modular Manufacturing Hub

Modscape’s Essendon Fields modular facility is packed with activities, with hundreds of modules neatly arranged in the holding yard, ready for delivery to projects nationwide.
With capacity to produce up to 2,500 modules per year, our Essendon Fields facility is a cornerstone of Modscape’s capability to meet growing demand for smarter, faster, and more sustainable construction—whether for bespoke homes, apartments, educational facilities or social and affordable housing.
By operating within a controlled factory environment, every stage of the build is meticulously planned and executed. With the capacity to produce three modules per day, this approach significantly reduces time on site, minimises waste, and delivers higher quality outcomes. For instance, wall panels for a standard three-bedroom home are produced in just four hours, with modules assembled in a single day—achieving lock-up stage in under 48 hours.
Key to this capability is Modscape’s integration of automation and Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA) principles. Rather than designing a building and working out how to construct it later, our process starts with the end in mind: designing for streamlined production, transport and installation from the outset. This allows for tighter tolerances, better cost control, and less material waste—up to 80% less than traditional builds.

As Australia continues to face growing demand for quality housing and infrastructure, the need for scalable, efficient building solutions has never been more crucial. Modscape’s modular facility stands ready to meet that challenge—offering a new kind of capacity: one built on innovation, rigour, and a commitment to doing things better.
Because the future of building isn’t just faster—it’s smarter from the start.
