Innovative Modular Solutions: Khudi Bari

tree house

Marina Tabassum Architects (MTA) is utilising modular design to provide shelter to marginalised people in Bangaldesh. Khudi Bari, meaning ‘tiny house’, is addressing the challenges faced by those residing on the sand beds of the Meghna River.

Through structural bamboo and steel joints, Khudi Bari is designed for easy assembly and disassembly, crucial for ever-changing climate conditions. The two-level design maximises space, providing safe refuge during flooding. All materials are locally sourced to reduce costs and carbon emissions.

Khudi Bari exemplifies more than a housing solution; it’s a testament to the role of modular architecture in enhancing community resilience and sustainability.
