Local sporting pavilions are an invaluable resource to the community – a place to socialise and connect with each other in a safe and welcoming environment.

Many councils and government bodies are recognizing that integrated, state-of-the-art facilities incorporating shared meeting and recreational spaces can support a more active, resilient and connected community.

With the increasing number of female participants in sports, flexible multi-purpose facilities not only support local clubs as their numbers increase and requirements shift, but offer non-sporting community groups a space to thrive.

Modscape’s unique modular construction systems and processes coupled with our passion for design-led solutions, make us a wonderful alternative to the traditional build process.

The controlled build cost, significant time-savings and minimal disruption onsite are just some of the benefits to modular construction.

We understand that not everyone is as familiar with modular construction as we are, so we’ve sought to answer some commonly asked questions about modular sports pavilions below:

What is a module?

A module is a fully welded structural steel frame. Modules are used to create almost any configuration of spaces and can be made at any size (within our maximum dimensions of 5x15m) to suit your site and design. They can be placed side-by-side or end-to-end to create greater internal spaces. They can also be stacked and can cantilever for design effect. More information about module size and configuration can be found in our Modular Design Guide.

Can I select the finishes?

Definitely. External cladding, roof shape, internal wall finishes, floor coverings, paint colours, fixtures and appliances can all be chosen to meet individual requirements.

Why build modular?

There are many benefits of modular construction:

  • The less time required onsite equals less site disruption, waste and noise to the local community and club.
  • The controlled factory build ensures certainty of price and program and guarantees a consistent level of high quality is achieved.
  • The faster build time ensures clubs can have changeroom facilities available sooner.
  • The energy efficient design and robust materials reduces maintenance and ongoing running costs.
  • The construction of a Modscape modular sport pavilion is managed by the one team. From design and planning through to installation and site connections.

What design restrictions are there with modular construction?

We have very little restrictions with our modular system. The strong structural steel frame allows us to have great flexibility with design. They can do impressive cantilevers and don’t always have to be rectilinear – we can do angular walls, pitched roofs and even curved walls.

Can Modscape work with external architects?

Absolutely. We are more than happy to work with your preferred architect or be directed by your proposed concept designs. Alternatively, Modscape’s in-house design team can work with you to bring your modular project to life. We also have a network of quality external consultants that can be employed on your project where required.

Are facilities female friendly?

All modular sports pavilions comply with Female Friendly Sport Infrastructure Guidelines and Australian Standards for Access and Mobility. Floor plans and building specifications will be developed to provide comfortable, private and safe environments for males and females from all backgrounds.

Do I need to have my site specifically prepared?

Modscape can coordinate all site preparation as required.

How do you install the projects?

Most of our modular projects require a crane to lift from the trucks to the pre-prepared footings. Large and complex reaches can be achieved so there are not too many sites we can’t access and build on.

What is the build time for a sports pavilion?

Build times differ depending on the size and complexity of the project. Some sports pavilions can be constructed in as little as 10 weeks.

Where do you transport to and what is the cost?

We transport modular sports pavilions all across the country. Transport for each module is $3k within 150km of our Brooklyn facility. If your project falls outside of the 150km radius of Brooklyn then it is likely each module will cost somewhere between $5K (for distances up to 300km from Brooklyn) and $23K (to Western Australia).

How does Modscape manage interstate projects?

Modscape has installed projects all over Australia so we are very familiar with the issues involved in working at a geographical distance from our clients. Our clients are frequently updated on the progress of their project – whether it is in town planning, design and development or construction, and the need to travel interstate is confined to the key decision-making stages only.

What is the cost of a modular sports pavilion?

The cost is very much dependent on the size, the complexity of the design, the level of finish and the extent of the site works required. Please feel free to contact us to discuss your sports pavilion needs and associated costs in greater detail. You can reach us on 03 9316 6000 or via email
