Following the devastating floods in the Northern Rivers during February and March 2022, which severely impacted several schools, Modscape was appointed by School Infrastructure NSW to design and build six new flood-resilient schools, including Wardell Public School. Built using 28 volumetric modules, this modern educational facility is designed to support a variety of learning and operational needs.
This thoughtfully designed educational facility features a variety of spaces to foster a dynamic learning environment. It includes four general learning spaces, a versatile learning common, and a multi-purpose area, providing flexible settings for both group and individual learning. A canteen and Covered Outdoor Learning Area (COLA) encourage social interaction and outdoor activities, while the library offers a quiet, resource-rich space for study.
Using Modern Methods of Construction – offsite manufacturing and design standardisation – Modscape delivered resilient educational spaces quickly and safely, ensuring the local community could return to their routines with minimal disruption.
School undercroft areas create a dynamic landscape and play area, doubling as a sheltered outdoor space for students, while the façades feature coloured screens to reflect local Indigenous cultural groups and school colours.
