Reflection in Nature: A Modular Timber Cabin in Mirror Facade

Some projects capture our attention for the way they dissolve into the landscape while still offering a strong architectural presence. The PEBL Grand, designed by Hungarian studio Hello Wood, is one example—a modular timber cabin wrapped in a mirror facade that reflects and adapts to its surroundings.
Prefabricated in cross-laminated timber (CLT), the cabin is designed with strength, insulation, and efficiency at its core. Inside, its compact footprint unfolds into a surprisingly generous interior: a kitchen, dining area, king-sized bed, bathroom, and even a panoramic infrared sauna. It’s a small building with the comfort and amenity of something much larger.
Externally, the PEBL Grand is striking. Hello Wood designed its angular form to be finished in a range of materials—timber, stone, aluminium, or, as seen here, clad entirely in mirrors. The mirror finish allows the cabin to almost disappear into the landscape, reflecting sky, light, and movement.

We’re always drawn to projects that use prefabrication as a way to achieve more with less and the PEBL Grand captures that idea. It demonstrates how modular design can be both efficient and sustainable while remaining functional and beautiful—a timber structure that is as much about experience as it is about performance.
