Abstract: The Art Of Design
After a long week of making modular magic, there is nothing the Modscape team like more than kicking back on the couch with a glass a red wine in hand and a dose of design inspiration on the TV. Our recent favourite is Abstract: The Art of Design – a pithy, entertaining new series that ticks all the boxes for anyone curious about design.
With the help of a handful eccentric design personalities, the Abstract series reveals the creative process behind design and invites viewers to step inside the minds of the most innovative designers and learn how design impacts every aspect of life.
Each episode is bespoke to each designer’s personality and work. The first season delves into the minds of Fiat-Chrysler design chief Ralph Gilles, interior designer Ilse Crawford and illustrator Christoph Niemann along with Nike shoe designer Tinker Hatfield and stage designer Es Devlin – just to name a few.
Our favourite episode to date featured architect Bjarke Ingels. The episode traces the growth of Ingels’ firm Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) – from an upstart practice in Copenhagen, to a sought-after architectural juggernaut with offices stretching to New York. Ingels shares insight into the thought process behind some of the practice’s forward-thinking concepts that have “revolutionised” how architecture is perceived by the general public.
If you are interested about what drives today’s leading designers to create and build many of the world’s greatest designs, then we think you’ll thoroughly enjoy tuning into Abstract.
