Nestled within a 500-acre working cattle farm in Waukivory, New South Wales, this bespoke home is tailored to its rural setting, designed as a place to slow down, reconnect and spend time immersed in the landscape. Positioned to capture sweeping views across the paddocks, the home will provide a quiet sanctuary for the clients.
The design brings together two generous pavilions linked by a central foyer. This layout balances shared living with moments of privacy, creating spaces that can comfortably host family gatherings while also supporting quieter day-to-day living. The H-Shape form allows for a generous courtyard providing a sheltered outdoor living space. A key design feature to the homes interiors is the cathedral ceiling that hovers over the primary living area, offering a sense of height and drama to the space.
The central foyer forms the connective heart of the home, bringing movement between the two wings while framing views out to the surrounding countryside. Large openings and carefully considered orientation allow the interiors to remain connected to the landscape.
Sustainability and energy performance are fundamental to the design. Passive solar principles, high-performance building systems and carefully selected materials work together to create a comfortable, low-energy home suited to the regional climate through a façade that can open and close throughout the year.
The result is a contemporary farmhouse that sits comfortably within its environment: a place designed for gathering, celebrating and building family traditions for years to come.
