Modular Luxury in the Alps: Tenir Eco Hotels
Situated 3,200 metres above sea level in the rugged terrain of Kazakhstan’s Tian Shan mountains, the Tenir Eco Hotels by Levelstudio redefine the concept of alpine hospitality.
The project comprises ten 30-square-metre cabins, each assembled from three prefabricated modules measuring 4.5 x 2.7 x 3.15 metres. Manufactured by Sputnik Trailers in Almaty, these modules feature steel frames, aluminium sandwich panels, and stone wool insulation, ensuring both structural integrity and thermal efficiency in the harsh mountain climate. The cabins are elevated on steel posts, eliminating the need for heavy concrete foundations and minimising environmental impact.
Accessing the remote site posed significant logistical challenges. To transport the modules, custom sledges were fabricated and hauled uphill by bulldozer over gradients ranging from 12° to 45°, underscoring the project’s engineering ingenuity.

Internally, the cabins are designed to offer panoramic views of the surrounding snow-capped peaks, providing guests with a serene and immersive alpine experience. The project’s rapid execution – completed in under five months – highlights the potential of modular construction techniques in delivering sustainable, high-performance architecture in challenging environments.
The Tenir Eco Hotels exemplify the possibilities of modular design in remote and extreme locations. By integrating prefabricated modules with sustainable materials and innovative transport solutions, the project offers valuable insights into the future of eco-conscious hospitality architecture.
