Cliff House: A Testament to Timeless Design
Designed a decade ago, and still making waves. Cliff House embodies Modscape’s commitment to innovative, timeless design.
A remarkable example of innovation and timeless modular design, Modscape’s Cliff House is a captivating conceptual design that highlights the resilience and versatility of modular architecture. Showcasing forward-thinking craftsmanship and creativity, this five-storey coastal home is inspired by barnacles clinging to a ship’s hull—truly a vision ahead of its time.
Originally conceived in response to clients seeking modular homes for extreme coastal locations, the Cliff House exemplifies innovation and imagination. The result is a structure that feels like a natural extension of the rock face, forging an extraordinary connection to the ocean and allowing residents to embrace the raw beauty of Australia’s coastline. This extraordinary conceptual project not only highlights the versatility of modular construction but also exemplifies the seamless integration of architecture with nature.
Recognising the challenges of conventional construction in such a setting, the design leverages Modscape’s modular expertise and prefabrication technologies. Engineered steel pins anchor the stacked housing modules securely into the cliff face, ensuring both stability and structural integrity in an environment that demands resilience.

Access is via a carport on the top level, leading to a lift that seamlessly connects each descending level of the home. Inside, minimalist interiors and large windows keep the focus on the stunning ocean views and unique setting. Open-plan layouts seamlessly connect indoor and outdoor spaces, redefining coastal living.

A decade later, the Cliff House remains a celebrated example of innovative conceptual design and Modscape’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of modular architecture.
