La Cache: Modular Architecture in Harmony with Quebec’s Landscape

Nestled on the shores of Lake Saint-Jean in Quebec, La Cache is a collection of elevated modular homes designed with sustainability at its core.

Developed by Delordinaire Architects and Annie Sylvain Architects, the project showcases innovative, eco-friendly residential design in a stunning lakeside setting. Each 50-square-meter dwelling sits atop stilts, reducing foundation work and preserving the natural landscape.

Prefabricated north of Montreal, the modular components of La Cache were transported and assembled onsite, demonstrating how offsite construction can achieve architectural excellence even in remote locations. The homes blend harmoniously with nature through the use of natural materials, strategic openings, and precise proportions. Clad in larch, their clean, minimalistic design reflects a commitment to craftsmanship and contextual sensitivity. More than functional living spaces, Delordinaire Architects see La Cache as an invitation to mindfulness, connection, and a deeper sense of place.

La Cache is a project we admire for its seamless integration with nature, its innovative approach to modular design, and its commitment to sustainability. The project exemplifies how offsite construction can achieve architectural precision in remote settings while preserving the environment. Its philosophy of creating spaces that foster mindfulness and connection resonates with our values of thoughtful, future-proof design.
